My funny eater
Kyle studies his food and carefully picks through his favorites. Tonight's order of preference:
1. Spicy turkey taco meat
2. Chicken
3. Broccoli
4. Carrots
5. Corn
6. Raspberries
7. Pasta
Of note, Kyle loves meat. But only if it's very flavorful, preferably spicy. He usually prefers fruits to vegis but still hasn't found a love for bananas, raspberries, and strawberries. The kid boggles my mind. He has never liked pasta. Not mac'n'cheese, not any noodle type, nothing. He refuses it every time we offer it. Don't be too worried though- the kid loves all forms of bread. Phew. I might've requested a DNA test otherwise.
But I tell ya, when he's not sick, he can eat. Tonight he consumed nearly a cup of turkey meat and a cup of vegis. And on a night when grapes or blueberries make the menu, watch out!

Nap? Nah!
Why would you nap when you could practice walking in your crib?

Making strides
Kyle is improving every day. He's taking great strides towards walking on his own. He's up to 6 steps and they are much more balanced.
Here's a video of him taking a few steps today. Sorry the video lacks sound. My iPhone is toast. :/

Just Keep Swimming...
We had originally planned to go hiking in Boulder while Uncle Brian was in town, but with the way their workouts and Kyle's naps fell, the time of day was just too hot (100 degrees), so we had to make different plans. Enter the indoor waterpark (aka, Kyle's mini-slice of Heaven).
Kyle has long since left his original swimming fears behind and is truly a huge fan of the water. So long as it's not 50 degrees.
The indoor waterpark we belong to has floor geysers, a toddler water playground, a big (and quite fun, by the way) waterslide, and a lazy river. Kyle really enjoyed being splashed by the geysers and chilling in his baby float in the lazy river.

Sick little dude
Our poor lil man is sick. Between the ten insane nasty #2s in the past day and the really red belly button, we figured a visit to Dr Bob was in order.
All I okay-- nothing a little TLC and some creme can't fix. He was lucky to have mom and dad working from home today to care for him.
Here he is helping dad (ok so maybe this isn't the same way we use engineering paper, but you gotta love all the ways he finds to use his cars)
And after ruining about 5 outfits today, we just decided to go diaper only. This photo captures Kyle's temperament today. A bit clingy but totally understandable. Poor little dude! I wish he felt better!

Playdate practice
Kyle is constantly practicing getting to a stand with no assistance. Watch a practice session he had yesterday at Connor's house.
We had a great time playing-- thanks for hosting us Kristin and Connor!

Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day to all those daddy's out there who make their childrens lives so extra special. I'm so thankful to have a wonderful father and an excellent husband to honor on this day.
After church, we went out for a Father's Day Lunch at Red Robin. Considering Kyle missed his morning nap (on Sundays that we serve in the church, Kyle doesn't get a nap), he did pretty well.

After his PM nap, we spent some time at our local pool. The water was not heated (as it had been for his indoor swimming lessons) so we weren't sure how he'd take to it (reference the beach trip last weekend). He initially screamed and threw a fit, but after we sat him in it for awhile, he warmed up to it (literally, figuratively). He ended up having a BLAST splashing like he does in the bath tub. He would throw daddy's glasses around and crawl to them. He even got comfortable enough to walk (with help) all the way up to his chest.

The Water Zoo
Kyle's nap went long yesterday and by the time we made it where we intending on spending our afternoon/evening, the Children's Museum was close to closing. Luckily the Denver Aquarium was next door and open until well past his bedtime. Score!
Kyle LOVED standing at the tanks and pointing at the fish. He would try talking to them; it was quite cute.

We actually really enjoyed this aquarium. Having been to places like Monterey Bay, we had pretty low expectations for a middle-of-the-country aquarium, but it surpassed them by far. We will definitely go back!
We had a $25 gift card to Landry's restaurants and it turns out that they own a restaurant in the aquarium. They put us tank-side giving Kyle a nice distraction from throwing food. As a side note, this was the only meal in the past few months for which we didn't have attention span issues, so it was well worth the extra few bucks.

No hands
Kyle has mastered the no hands trick over the past few weeks. He can take 1 or 2 steps before losing balance and falling. It's only a matter of confidence and practice and he'll be walking on his own.

Park Fun
Kyle is a huge fan of the park. Despite not being able to walk, he still is able to get all over the park and even climbs up the platforms and rides the slide himself.
Who needs to walk?
