Riley turns 2

Kyle attended his first birthday party and had a stinkin' good time. [Riley's 2nd was a garbage truck themed shindig in honor of his current obsession]. Kyle enjoyed playing with Riley's trucks while mom and dad mingled.

Bowling

For Mikes last day in CO, the family went bowling. Well, actually, just the boys bowled. Mama and grandma kept the K-man entertained with a ball I won in one of those claw machines. Kyle did take his turn at a bowl tho. Twas fun. Sure look forward to the times when he can bowl with us!

Growing up

It's the little things that make me pause and go "wow, he's growin up so fast!" Today it was the lowering of his crib to the lowest setting. He's using toys to stand up so we thought it would be wise to lower it now before he figures out how to stand and throw himself onto the floor. :) Seems like such a minor thing but I find myself a bit sad as time is just flying by way too fast.

Uh Oh

By popular demand, I'm posting this video to the blog. Kyle occasionally falls over while practicing his sitting, crawling and standing skills, and apparently I all too often say "uh-oh." He's since picked up on it. Turn your volume way up and check the video out-- it's gotten many a chuckle from everyone who watches it. Enjoy!

A perfect birthday

I had a wonderful birthday-- thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! Grandma came over at lunch time to watch the little K-man so Dave and I could enjoy a nice lunch at Melting Pot. We've never had lunch there, but it was mighty tasty. Afterwards we went pottery painting at a little shop nearby. It was just like we used to do pre-baby. Thanks to Grandma for 'sitting so that we could have an alone afternoon together.

Mike arrived from San Diego last night and we met him and my parents at Saltgrass for some birthday steak. Yummm. I think Uncle Mike and Kyle were an instant hit together. Kyle was excited to meet his Uncle for the first time. The meal and presents were great and the company even better.

Afterwards, we put Kyle down for bed (2 hours past his bedtime--eeks!) and had our neighbor friends over for birthday cake. It was truly a really special day! I'm so thankful for great friends and family!

Mobility

If I had to bet, I would say that Kyle will probably be a very late crawler if he crawls at all. Occasionally I can entice him to make a few strides forward (like today with the rice puffs), but usually he's just content to sit and watch others move. Perhaps he'll go straight to walking like I did. Who knows. I'm not horribly worried about it; quite honestly, we're just enjoying these non-mobile days as we know our lives will change when he's storming the house. The girls waited patiently to see if Kyle was going to go after the rice puffs. Sequoia tried to steal it one time which further motivated Kyle. Here's a series of shots of the determined little man and his rice puff:

And the girls watch on patiently hoping for a rice puff too:

Don't let their looks deceive you-- they are pretty spoiled! [You know I can't resist giving them a puff too].

Happy start of vacation photo shoot!

I'm officially off for the rest of the year! Woot! Kyle's almost as excited as I am! We celebrated the occasion with a photo shoot. Enough with the writing, here's the pictures:

Playdate

Kyle's a big fan of playdates. He loves having other people to watch that aren't mommy. We had several babies and children over today for some Christmas cookies and playtime. It was a wonderful afternoon. Don't tell Cheyenne, but I think Kyle may have found a new girl in his life... he seemed to be pretty curious about Addison today. She had her pick of several little boys today! :)

Trail Of Lights

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is driving to look at lights. Right near our house is this beautiful display of lights at the Botanic Gardens. We have driven past it on our way home nearly daily for many years and have never gone. We finally decided to give it a try. It was a nice (relatively warm) evening for a stroll through the gardens. The lights were amazing. Kyle was a huge fan too!

Winter picnic

Another beautiful blue sky day here in Colorado so we decided to bundle Kyle up and take the dogs to the park for a picnic-- just like we do each Saturday in the summer. The girls had a blast roaming in the snow. Someday I imagine Kyle will enjoy chasing them around. I can't wait to teach him the monkey bars!
