Kyle's First Summit

So unless you count Evergreen Mountain which Kyle hiked with us last summer, this weekend marks Kyle's first true summit.  Chief Mountain sits at nearly 12,000 feet and offered impressive views of Mt. Evans, Pikes Peak, and Longs.  It was mostly snow covered (sigh, we keep finding ourselves trekking through snow and always forget our ski poles!).  The dogs were in their element and Kyle had a blast.  As always, he smiled and talked up a storm the entire trek up and crashed comfortably on the hike down.  As is becoming a hiking tradition, I nursed him at the top.  {Kyle doesn't know how good his picnic views are!}.  At the summit, we took turns scaling the rocks up to get to nearly 12,000 ft and see the awesome 360 degree views of all the nearby (and distant) peaks before heading back down.  Yet another wonderful Saturday spent hiking in our amazing state.

What the conditions were like... definitely had to watch your step the entire time!

Almost to the top of Chief Mountain!

Dave at the summit!

Awww, a nice family photo at the summit!

Belle lying down on a w-a-l-k?  Surely she's just bored!
