Tri with all your might

This morning was Dave's first triathlon. Named appropriately, the Highlands Ranch Tune-Up Tri, was a prep race for the Olympic-distance triathlon he'll do in Minnesota in July. Today's race began at 6 am (yikes!) and consisted of a 500m swim, 12 mile bike, and 5K run.

I cheered Dave on during his bike and run. They actually did two 6-mile bike loops so I was able to see him a couple times. He had to have been biking nearly 30 mph the first lap I saw him! His bike to run transition was really quick and much improved over last month's Du.

With a swim time of 9:30, an average speed of 20 mph biking, and a 6:45 pace 5K, he did exceptional. It sure was a beautiful day for racing and I enjoyed being his cheerleader, even with a 6 am start on a Saturday.
