Grandma and Grandpa Shoemaker visit!
Dave's parents flew out here for the past week to spend some quality time with Dave and Kyle. We pulled Kyle out of daycare all but one day last week. Dave also took the week off from work.
They played a ton of "May I," did lots of tummy time with Kyle, and enjoyed many meals and walks with Dave.
On Thursday, Dave and his parents took Kyle to C.B and Potts for dinner while my parents and I went to Golden for pizza. On Friday, Dave's mom and I went to scrapmania to get some pages done. The boys went out for Japanese food for some quality father-son time. It was really nice for both Dave and I to get out and have some baby-free time. Thanks to my parents for watching Kyle for the evening!
We had a (brief) chance to take a few family photos while they were in town. Here a couple of them:
On Saturday, Dave's dad, my parents, Dave and I all spent the afternoon playing golf at Arrowhead. Thanks to Dave's mom for watching Kyle for the afternoon. She did a great job keeping him on a schedule so that we could all enjoy a nice dinner out afterwards!

Afternoon at Arrowhead
Grandma Shoemaker watched Kyle while my parents, Dave's dad, Dave and I went golfing at Arrowhead. It was a gorgeous sunny day-- perfect for an afternoon on the course.
Both of our dads had never played the course and I think they enjoyed the magnificent views each hole brought.
Mom and I immediately remembered the gorgeous view from the 5th tee box that was the unfortunate scene of Mike's shattered driver some number of years back.
We saw tons of deer throughout the round-- one even decided to watch with a careful eye while Dad tee'd off.
They don't seem to be scared of people-- evidenced by the 12 point buck that was resting peacefully on one of the tee boxes.
I managed to par several of the par 3's today. It took me a few holes to get into the "swing" of things, but I played pretty well after.
The views from the 10th fairway are perhaps my favorite. They say it's one of the most photographed golf courses in the world and I and see why!
The most famous hole at Arrowhead is the par 3 13th. It's got a very huge drop off between these red rocks. Go long and you end up in the water.
After dad successfully hit the green, he pulled out his driver and decided to go for the itty bitty island tee box off in the distance. He managed to hit the wall of the island in the lake. It was his favorite "shot" of the day!
We saw several fox throughout the day (but not the resident black bear). Judging by this guys' figure, he really needed the little meal he managed to catch!
If you squint your eyes-- you can see downtown Denver off in the distance. This course is just breathtaking and it's practically in our backyard. We are so fortunate!
All 5 of us had a great time golfing. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. I think even Grandma Shoemaker will agree with that as she got to spend several hours uninterrupted with her grandson!

Underaged
We were naughty parents recently. My friend (and Dave's coworker), Charity, had her graduation happy hour at Old Chicago. I wasn't back at work yet, so I thought I would take Kyle with for some adult interaction. All of Dave's coworkers gave us a hard time for having a "baby in a bar."

My Parents Pick a Home!
After looking at just about every available property at Heritage Eagle Bend, my parents settled on a home! It's a beautiful detached ranch on the 8th fairway. It has a beautiful deck overlooking the course with a wonderful granite kitchen, 2 bedrooms and an office.
My parents close in just under 4 weeks. We're super excited for them! Here are some shots of their house:

First Day of Daycare
After a 12.5 week maternity leave, it was time for the inevitable return to work. We had Dave drop Kyle off at daycare because I knew I'd be a wreck otherwise. So I said my 'goodbye' at home where handing him to Dave didn't seem so bad. The daycare director gave me a call at lunchtime to let us know that Kyle was doing well [she must've known I needed that!].
It was probably harder on Dave and I than Kyle. I miss the guy all day long and find it hard to focus when I'd rather be holding him. I suppose we will get used to it.
I'm only returning to work 3 days a week for now. Dave and I felt that the quality time with mom at this age was more important than the extra income.

Kyle's First Fourth!
Kyle's first 4th of July was a success! Even though he was up WAY past his bedtime, he did great! He was very intrigued by the fireworks and could've stared at them for hours. Sadly, we were down-wind and all of the debris was flying towards us so we had to face Kyle towards us. He fell asleep when he could no longer watch them. The big booms weren't even enough to wake him. What a good boy!
Mommy's little firecracker!
We nickname Kyle "Spare Tire" now because of his chubby tummy. He's well fed!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Kyle!
